Sandalwood
Nag Champa is an aromatic, sweet, earthy fragrance from India. It has a
high concentration of sandalwood (pictured above). It is most
frequently found in the form of incense sticks and cones, but soap,
perfume oil, scented candles, and massage oil are also available.
In Hinduism, sandalwood is often used for
rituals or ceremonies. Its use as a embalming paste is used in Lord
Shiva temples on Shivlings. A vast majority of hindus wear a small mark
of this paste on their forehead right above the middle of the eyes. It
is supposed to keep the 'third eye' (pituitary gland) cool. Sandalwood
is
also considered in alternative medicine to bring one closer with the
divine. Sandalwood essential oil, which is very expensive in its pure
form, is used primarily for Ayurvedic purposes, and treating anxiety.
The Sai Baba Nag Champa Incense is a masala based
fragrance which creates a deep meditative atmosphere and has a musky
sweetness with a flowery top note. It is made with all-natural resins,
gums, flowers, and oils.
