The Bach Original Flower Remedies were developed by Dr Edward Bach a
Harley Street doctor and well known Physician, Bacteriologist,
Homeopath and Researcher. He believed that attitude of mind plays a
vital role in maintaining health and recovering from illness. He
identified

basic negative states of mind and created a plant or
flower based remedy for each one.
After leaving London in 1930, Dr Bach explored the
countryside in search of the remedies for several years.
In 1934 he decided to settle down and create a center for his work, and
chose Mount Vernon, a small cottage in Sotwell, Oxfordshire.
He spent the last years of his life at Mount Vernon and it was here
that he completed his research. Nowadays, Mount
Vernon is better known as The Bach Center, and the present
custodians continue to prepare the mother tinctures (first
process in making the remedies), often using the same locations that Dr
Bach identified in the 1930s. Only the Bach signature
guarantees that you receive the original Bach Flower Remedies, prepared
as they have been since Dr. Bach's time with tinctures made exclusively
by the Bach Center at Mount Vernon.

Dr Bach created an emergency combination containing
five flower remedies - Impatiens, Star of Bethlehem,
Cherry Plum, Rock Rose and Clematis. Rescue Remedy
combines these five Bach Original Flower Remedies and can be used to
help you cope with immediate everyday situations such as going to the
dentist, interviews, making a complaint or wedding day nerves. It can
also help in times of crisis or trauma such as bereavement, a
relationship breakdown or redundancy.
Rescue Cream is a general skin salve to sooth and
restore. Containing a blend of six flower remedies, it lets you apply
cream externally and moisturizes rough, dry skin to restore it to its
natural good condition.
Preparing the Bach Original Flower
Remedies is a three step process as detailed below:
Mother tinctures are prepared from
plant material and natural spring water using either the Sun or Boiling
Method as defined by Dr Bach. The mother tincture is
made up of the energized spring water [Step one] mixed with an equal
quantity of 40% brandy. The brandy acts purely as a preservative for
the remedy. To make the stock bottle, the mother
tincture is added to 30ml of 27% brandy. There are
two methods of preparing the Mother Tinctures for the Bach Original
Flower Remedies. The Sun Method: Dr Bach used this
method to make 20 of the remedies, most of which are delicate flowers
and bloom in the height of summer. The Boiling
Method: Dr Bach used this method to prepare the remaining 18 remedies,
from trees and bushes and plants, most of which flower in the early
part of the year.
Dr Bach used alcohol in his preparations, usually
brandy, for its preservative properties. It is there to guard against
microbial contamination which could otherwise grow in the water-based
remedies. The alcohol is not an active ingredient.

and natural and can be used by all the family.
They can even be used to help plants and animals because they act in
such a gentle way.

Who is Dr. Edward Bach?
Dr. Edward Bach was a British Physician, who began
to see disease as an end product; a final stage;
a physical manifestation of unhappiness, fear and worry. He therefore,
began to look to nature to find healing flowers.
Over a period of years Dr. Bach found 38 healing flowers and plants
that with the right preparation became the 38 Bach Flower Essences.
These Essences are enough to remove all negative emotional problems.
How do the Essences work?
The Bach Flower Essences are a safe and natural
method of healing. They gently restore the balance between mind and
body by casting out negative emotions, such as, fear, worry, hatred and
indecision which interfere with the equilibrium of the being as a
whole. The Bach Flower Essences allow peace and happiness to return to
the sufferer so that the body is free to heal itself.
How are the Bach Flower Essences made?
The Bach Flower Essences are made 100% naturally
from spring water infused with wild flowers, either by the sun-steeped
method or by boiling. The Essences are hand produced exclusively in
England. The Essences contain 27% grape brandy as a preservative.
How do I take the Bach Flower Essences?
The Bach Flower Essences can be taken either in a
30ml/1once treatment bottle filled with spring water. From the
treatment bottle take 4 drops 4 times a day until relief is obtained,
or two drops in a glass of water and sip at intervals. If no water is
available the Essences can be taken undiluted either in the
mouth, on the skin behind the ears or on the inside of the wrist.
To prepare a treatment bottle, fill the bottle with
fresh spring water and add 2 drops of each Essence.
You can combine up to 6 or 7 Essences in a treatment bottle. As
preservative (optional) you can use brandy,
apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin, 1 tsp. in the treatment
bottle.
What is Rescue Remedy& Rescue Remedy
Cream?
Dr. Bach created an emergency combination of
Essences which he called Rescue Remedy. It contains five different
Essences:
Star of Bethlehem, Clematis, Impatiens, Cherry Plum and Rock Rose.
Rescue Remedy is worth carrying with you in case of emergencies or
everyday stress.
Rescue Remedy helps you go through difficult situations, stressful
events, an exam or job interview in a calm and relaxed matter.
Rescue Remedy Cream, contains the same five Essences
as Rescue Remedy with added Crab Apple. The cream is for
external applications such as bruises, diaper rash, sprains,
burns, stings, scratches and other skin conditions.
On occasions when you are stressed and your mind is
over-active,
take a dose or two of Rescue Remedy in the evening before going

Why are the Essences sometimes called
Remedies?
In the US they are called Essences, and in England
they are called Remedies. Books written in England refer to them as
Remedies.
What are the difference between
Essential Oil and The Bach Flower Essences?
Essential Oil: As the name says it is oils from
different plants and flowers. The smell very strongly, some of them
should be avoided for people with different illnesses, pregnancy, in
the sun etc. The Essential Oils comes from the whole world, however,
the quality can easily be very different because some farmers cheat and
mix in cheap oils.
The Bach Flower Essences are considered homeopathic.
The Bach Flower Essences are produced at one location after old
directions from Dr. Edward Bach who died in 1936. Dr. Bach was VERY
specific with the directions on how & when to make the Essences. He
told just before he died that many people will try to imitate and copy
the Essences and his assistants had to promise NEVER to alter the 38
Essences, because he knew that there would be no more need for more
than the 38 and the directions that he had given were the best possible.
Treating children:
The remedies work well to help alleviate the trials and tribulations in
the life of a child. They offer a gentle support for many common
problems including: fear of the dark (mimulus, aspen); nightmares
(aspen); jealousy of younger sibling (holly); temper tantrums (cherry
plum); manipulative behavior (chicory); attention seeking (heather);
bullying (vine); being bullied (centaury); learning difficulties, potty
training (chestnut bud); lack of confidence (larch); shyness, timidity
(mimulus), giving up easily, despondent (gentian); starting new school,
moving home (walnut). These & any other remedies can be combined in
a treatment bottle or taken alone. Add to the child’s drinks, baby’s
bottle, or rub a drop behind the ear.
For the best results, the parent/carer of the child will benefit from
using the remedies too!
Treating animals:
Common problems that the remedies can help with are: relocating animals
(walnut); aggressive behavior (holly, vine, cherry plum);
pining for owner (honeysuckle); nervousness (aspen); abused animals
(rescue remedy, centaury, mimulus); very ill animals
(gorse, sweet chestnut); training (chestnut bud). Add the drops to the
animal’s water bowl or rub into skin at the edge of the ear.
